Hard to believe, but Santa’s jingle jingle will quickly be upon us. The holidays present a unique opportunity to show compassion, not only for humans but also for animals. We wanted to share ways you can give “heart” to our animal community either through a donation or volunteer hours.
Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is always looking for volunteers. Visit here to find out how you can volunteer (as an individual or maybe even as a family). If you don’t have time to volunteer, but want to financial contribute, visit here. REMEMBER, you can donate personally, on behalf of someone, and in remembrance of someone.
Dakota Dachshund Rescue is another local non-profit organization. Dakota Dachshund Rescue is a small group of people who loves the “wiener dog”, and they work together to rescue abandoned, abused and even unwanted dachshunds. If you love the infamous “wiener dog” you can learn more about volunteering here, and how you can contribute here.
Yes, we love our pets! However, if you are a supporter, an advocate and a believer in the safety of all animals, you can also volunteer or donate to our local zoo. The Great Plains Zoo is filled with all type and all sizes of animals! Many that need love (just like our pets). If you are interested in volunteering at the zoo, visit here. There are also numerous donation options, to learn more about this visit here.
No matter how you decide to spend your holidays, we hope you give a little “heart” to local animals!
